Our place in Zagreb

Since I can't seem to fall asleep just yet I thought I'd post a few pics of our apartment here although I can't really do it much justice.  Mostly I have interior shots.  Tomorrow I'll add more from the outside.

Well, the photos loaded the opposite way than I'd intended so let's start with the inside and work our way out.  This is a view of the living room that is really just a pass thru from the front to the back.  It's nice but not very useful mainly because we haven't spent much time in the place and the time we do is spent sleeping or eating or washing.

Off the living room is the tiny but very modern, fully appointed immaculate kitchen.

Here's our room.  It's narrow but really very spacious with a comfortable large bed at one end

and a couch, armoire and tall window at the other.

Down the hall near the bath and entry is N's room.

And here's our front door.

To leave the building, you go out of our apartment and down old wooden stairs to this door that leads onto a garden.

You make an immediate left, go up a few steps and into this door to get to the main part of the build's front hall.

This is the main part of the building that faces the street...so up these stairs...

Then back down these to exit.

Here's an interior view of the main front door.

It seems complicated with all the pics and doors and stairs but it's actually very easy and pleasant to come back to.  In the apartment, since it looks out onto the courtyard garden, all you hear are the many birds that live in the ivy growing on the brick wall dividing one block's apartments from another's.

Tomorrow, or later today, I'll post a pic of the outside of the building, some very interesting arched courtyard entries common to this city and possibly some "boxen", (thanks Ricky, for inventing the term) also a common architectural feature locally.

PS: as promised here is a view of our building from the street:
