Brighton

I've wanted to go to Brighton for as long as I can remember. Saturday was the day. It was raining in London but for some miraculous reason the weather was clear at the beach. Perfect timing. We passed through two grand train stations on the way. The first was Victoria, but I wasn't quick enough to snap a picture . It looked like a bigger version of Brighton's, pictured below:

We were headed to two destinations: the Royal Pavillion and Brighton Pier. Here's just a random street scene on the way to our first stop.

And here are some views of the outrageous Pavillion. You'll have to look it up. If I get ambitious I'll add a link. Here is a link:

It was one of George IV's residences. Totally amazing over the top place. Any insane architecture you see are all it. I would have taken pics of the inside but they don't allow it.  :(

Afterwards we ate at the most sweet little cafe on the park called, what else, "Pavillion Cafe". The simple English egg sandwiches were the perfect antidote to the wackiness we witnessed beforehand. Unfortunately I was so smitten with the cafe and its environs I completely forgot to take a picture and then before our eyes it folded up like an origami and was closed before I realized the opportunity had passed. So on we went to the pier.

Instead of sand the beach was covered with smooth stones and triangular shells that were like worn shark teeth.

A was such a good sport.

Barney Bush anyone?

A view from the pier:

It was so fun. Like Atlantic city before the casinos sunk their fangs in. Then back through the Pavillion gardens.

On the train ride home we passed this station whose name N thought was so hilarious he grabbed my phone and took a picture.
