The amount of attention to detail in Italy is staggering to me but for someone who lives here I think it's just a given. I can't even imagine what it's like to be immersed in antiquities and incredible beauty constantly. I can't even imagine what living this way and not knowing any other way of life would be like.
There is, though, a museum that recognizes and celebrates some of the incredible craftsmanship of times gone by. It's called the Davia and contains the collections of the Bargellini family. Here are a few examples:
The ancestor of the wrought iron plant stands!
A tiny tableau.
After the Davia, a very small but dense assortment, we went to the MAMBO. On the way there it happened to be the hottest part of the day and of our of week here in Bologna and the hottest place in Italy. I threw a little fit and had to be placated with some iced fizzy water. But eventually we made it to see the Morandi museum which is worth every last bead of sweat that dripped from my furrowed brow.
Afterwards we treated ourselves to a light dinner of Sardinian influenced dishes. Here are A and N on the little patio of the Osteria down the street from our apartment.
