Utrecht 4

Another day of walking. I will only say that the people we met here were so nice it was almost strange. The first day we arrived for example and were stumbling along with our bags trying to decipher Hilla's directions and not one but three separate people stopped and tried to help us find our destination. One guy even stopped his car and held up traffic on one of the little white bridges crossing the canal but the people behind him didn't mind and actually waited a good five minutes before tapping on their horn good naturedly. Anyway, an older gentleman similarly asked us what we were looking for and when it turned out the church we were seeking had burned down, he directed us to this third floor perch to get a better view of the Dom in the center of town:

A garden next to the Dom tower with an evil orange cat in residence.

We walked through the rain and found this park further out away from the madding crowds.

On the way back, we stopped for a bite and watched the natives in their natural habitat mysteriously shoving bags into these receptacles. It's recycling. There is no truck, they deliver it themselves!

A secret passage way back into town along a hidden canal.
